The Celtic Race at Dünsberg is a highlight on the Delta Bike racing calendar for us. For years we've been proud that so many riders start in our colors. For us, this race is not just a sporting event but an expression of our passion, bringing together friends, family and the local community.
The Tour der Hoffnung is an annual charity bike tour in support of children and adolescents with cancer in Germany. The tour was first launched in 1983 and has taken place every summer since.
During the tour participants ride their bicycles through various regions of Germany and collect donations for the good cause. Over the past decades the Tour der Hoffnung has developed into one of the most important charity events in Germany and demonstrates how much good can be achieved through sporting effort and collective action.
The German cycling world recently experienced an unforgettable moment when, in close collaboration with Pas Normal Studios, we hosted the country's first Plus One Race. At this extraordinary event, just under 53 participants from all regions of Germany took part to enjoy a top-class cycling experience.
From idea to reality: 2 years shaped by passion
From the first sparkling idea to the radiant race moment, exactly two years passed. The event was initiated by Sven Stremmel, responsible for purchasing and team leadership in the online shop, together with Andreas Kongsted, Pas Normal's Wholesale Manager. The 24 months that prepared this day were a sequence of challenges – from the unpredictable twists of the Covid-19 pandemic to organizational hurdles such as selecting the perfect course and scheduling.
The idea behind the Plus One Race
The Plus One Race was defined by its essence: a racing event that celebrates the cycling community and focuses on pure fun. Participants had the special opportunity to register an additional cycling friend for the race – hence the name "Plus One". And not to forget: participants shone in characteristic Pas Normal attire, which added an extra touch of style to the race.
The course: a circuit in Gießen
After a long, two-year planning process the perfect course finally emerged. The Justus-Liebig University (JLU) in Gießen opened its doors and enabled the layout of a 1.3-kilometre circuit around the Organic Chemistry campus. We would like to sincerely thank the JLU at this point for their cooperation and support. The race distance covered 17 laps, which set a rapid pace from the start.
The "One bike, one tree" campaign is an initiative in which Delta-Bike, in cooperation with Hessenforst, plants a tree for every bicycle sold. Customers who choose a bicycle from Delta-Bike thus make an active contribution to tree protection and reforestation in Hesse. This initiative reflects Delta-Bike's and Hessenforst's commitment to environmental protection and offers a tangible way to make positive changes for our forests. To express our connection to the region, we plant our trees in places close to our hearts, such as the Krofdorfer Forst and the Dünsberg.
